Denton is the county seat of Denton County, Texas in the United States. According to the 2000 United States Census, the city’s population was 80,537, making it the eleventh largest city in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. The July 2007 United States Census Bureau estimate, however, gave Denton’s population as 115,506, and named the city as the nation’s tenth fastest-growing city among those with over 100,000 people.
